Students Embrace True Spirit of Christmas in RE Lessons Through Creative ActivitiesStudents Embrace True Spirit of Christmas in RE Lessons Through Creative Activities
Students at Ysgol Treffynnon have been delving into the true meaning of Christmas in their RE lessons. Rather than focusing solely on traditional lessons, Miss Owen has incorporated hands-on activities, allowing students to explore the deeper significance of the festive season.
One project has been the creation of Lego Nativity scenes, where students used their imagination and building skills to recreate the biblical story of the birth of Jesus. The intricate and thoughtful designs showcase not only the students' artistic abilities but also their understanding of the religious and cultural aspects of Christmas.
Miss Owen said "It's wonderful to see students engage with the Christmas story in a creative way. The Lego Nativity scenes allow them to connect with the narrative on a personal level, fostering a deeper understanding of the true meaning of Christmas."
In addition to the Lego Nativity scenes, students have been busy crafting Christingles, a symbolic and traditional Christmas decoration that represents various elements of the Christian faith. The Christingle consists of an orange representing the world, a red ribbon symbolising the blood of Christ, four cocktail sticks with sweets and dried fruits representing the four seasons and God's creations, and a candle signifying Jesus as the light of the world.
