In a bid to prioritise the mental health and emotional wellbeing of students, Year 8 at Ysgol Treffynnon participated in a comprehensive Personal and Social Education (PSE) session facilitated by the Wrexham and Flintshire Inspire Service. The engaging session aimed to equip students with valuable tools and insights to navigate the complexities of emotional wellbeing.

The session, held yesterday, saw students immersed in interactive activities and discussions designed to foster self-awareness and emotional intelligence. The Wrexham and Flintshire Inspire Service, renowned for its expertise in mental health and wellbeing, brought forth a curriculum tailored to the specific needs of Year 8 students.

One of the key focal points of the session was to encourage an open dialogue about emotions, enabling students to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. Through a series of thought-provoking exercises, students explored various aspects of emotional wellbeing, including stress management, coping mechanisms, and the importance of seeking help when needed.

Mrs Owen, who coordinated the session, expressed enthusiasm about the impact of the program on the students. "Emotional wellbeing is a crucial aspect of our students' development, and it's heartening to see them engage so actively in these discussions. The Wrexham and Flintshire Inspire Service has provided our Year 8 students with valuable insights that will undoubtedly contribute to their overall resilience and mental health."

The Wrexham and Flintshire Inspire Service utilised a holistic approach, incorporating elements of mindfulness and self-reflection into the session. By doing so, students were encouraged to identify and understand their emotions, ultimately empowering them to make informed decisions about their mental health.

This PSE session is part of a broader initiative within Ysgol Treffynnon to prioritise students' mental health and wellbeing. By collaborating with external services such as the Wrexham and Flintshire Inspire Service, the school aims to provide students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond academic achievements.

As the school continues its commitment to nurturing the holistic development of its students, sessions like these serve as a testament to the proactive measures taken to create a supportive and thriving learning environment. The hope is that these efforts will not only contribute to the immediate wellbeing of the students but also lay the foundation for a positive and resilient future generation.
