‘Longer summer holidays’, ‘A licence scheme for mountain climbers’, ‘More security for young people’ … these were some of the topics suggested and debated by Year 6 visitors to Ysgol Treffynnon this week.
Students from Ysgol Maes Glas, Ysgol Bryn Garth and Ysgol Maes Y Felin engaged fully in an afternoon of democracy using a box of props loaned to Ysgol Treffynnon by Parliament.
Cameron enjoyed dressing up as the speaker of the house and did an excellent job of bringing order to the proceedings. Siobhan Henry, teacher, said ‘ This was such a great afternoon! I am surprised by the maturity of the suggested bills and the level of argument was sensible and focused. I am looking forward to teaching these students when they join us in September!’
