Vice Chair – Mark Evans Profile

Mark Evans

Vice Chair IEB

Mark is a local resident and, as a former pupil of Holywell High School, is passionate about maintaining high standards and ensuring all students have every opportunity to succeed.

His family has had more than a passing interest in the area’s education provision for at least three generations, his late grandmother and mother both having worked at Ysgol Bro Carmel. His wife works as a Teaching Assistant at Ysgol Bro Carmel. His father was a school governor for many years and his brother is also an education professional, working as a Headteacher.

He says that, “School life is in my blood. I am passionate about supporting the community and young people in Holywell.”

He has been a Community Governor for Ysgol Bro Carmel (2006 to 2014 and Chair 2008 to 2014), a Parent Governor for Holywell High School/Ysgol Treffynnon (2014 to 2018 and Chair 2016 to 2018) and an Assistant Cub Scout Leader (Carmel 2008 to 2014).

Mark is a solicitor by profession, working in North Wales and Chester, and brings years of legal and management experience to the Interim Executive Board.

He represents solicitors nationally as the Law Society of England & Wales elected Council Member for Cheshire & North Wales (2015 to date) and also Chairs the Law Society Wales Committee

Mark’s skills, knowledge and experience are highly valued by the IEB and, as Vice-Chair, he will be in a strong position to advise the Chair and the Board and influence the future direction of the school. He, along with the other Board members and senior leadership team, is firmly committed to ensuring that Ysgol Treffynnon achieves its vision of ‘Excellence’.
