Claire already has twelve months experience as a parent governor at Ysgol Treffynnon.
She has worked full-time for Coleg Cambria, mainly based at the Deeside campus, for over 15 years, where her role as a childcare assessor, internal verifier and lecturer, has provided both a broad and deep understanding of education provision and the needs of young people.
She was part of the staff team that saw the college gain its ‘Excellent’ judgements from Estyn and has first hand experience of ‘what good looks like’. Coleg Cambria is acknowledged as one of the best FE colleges in the UK for its results, standards and student voice/student participation.
Claire has a first-class honours degree in Childcare and Education and a PGCE teaching qualification at degree level.
She will certainly bring her own professional and personal experiences to the Interim Executive Board, helping the school on its journey to excellence and achieving the recognition it deserves.
Like every parent, she wants the very best for her children and will not settle for anything less. A past pupil of the school, she is determined to help Ysgol Treffynnon become an outstanding provider of education, where standards and student wellbeing are the priorities.
Claire says, “My ambition is to help the IEB build a strong partnership with the senior leadership team, the staff, the pupils and the parents/carers. If we do that, we’ll create a fantastic school for everyone in Holywell to be proud of.”
